Staff Testimonials

‘Both the staff and students make our school a special place. I have always been made to feel welcome and valued.

In the 15 years that I have worked at the school I have been given the opportunity of career progression on a number of occasions which I have acted on. The school have also provided training both internal and external to the school, to expand my skill set and knowledge.

Coundon Court is a great place to work. The staff are so friendly and work together as a team. I always feel like my opinion, views and suggestions are heard and if I have any concerns I know that I can speak to the Senior Team. Everyone here is very welcoming.’

‘At Coundon Court every staff counts. You are made to feel supported by welcoming and knowledgeable staff who have time for you. You are recognised by senior leadership. You work as a team and train together. At Coundon we focus on the details, uphold standards and put the students first. We recognise pedagogy is ever changing and put aside time to develop our teaching.

It is clear from our leadership that we are travelling in an upwards trajectory. SLT focus on the details and prioritise the student by building a culture and attitude to learning that reinforces the basics first. By understanding that every child is different but maintaining high expectations at the same time we build kind, hardworking and respectful students.’

‘I first joined Coundon Court way back in 2008 as a Year 7 pupil and I left in 2015 after completing Sixth Form. My love for Coundon Court saw me return in 2017 on a placement year from university and I worked as a Mentor and Teaching Assistant in SEND and Inclusion. I completed my PGCE and Teacher Training at Coundon Court in 2019-20. In 2022, I was appointed as Lead Practitioner in Mathematics and later appointed as Year 8 Strategic Lead.

Coundon Court is a special and unique school due to its history and reputation across the city. The famous Old House! The Coundon Court Alumni! The state-of-the-art facilities! The Beautiful school grounds! Our Core Values of Hard Work, Kindness and Respect are at the heart of what we do.

By 2026, Coundon Court will be a flagship school nationally due to the redevelopment of the site and new buildings. 'The Coundon Way' ensures that we all row together to achieve our strategic vision. Our shared common language and behaviour policy make Coundon Court a great place to teach. Our excellent personalised CPD programme enables teachers to improve and ensures that students receive quality explicit instruction, live modelling and effective feedback. The Leadership Team are knowledgeable, experienced, approachable and incredibly supportive of all colleagues. ‘

The students are unique, welcoming and make every day worth it. I feel that I am part of the Coundon Court Community.

If you are willing to work hard then there are lots of opportunities for staff at Coundon. Equally, if you have new ideas, they are listened to and supported.

I love being part of the team. In the History department we make each other laugh everyday. The students are excellent and value teachers that support them. You are respected and listened to.

The staff here work extremely hard to ensure that all students can achieve their own personal potentials. They have many opportunities to thrive in many different ways, feeling supported by the whole of the Coundon staff.’
