An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Food and Nutrition to join our committed team of staff at Coundon Court. We are looking to appoint a skilled and ambitious leader of Food.
You will be an outstanding teacher, looking to demonstrate considerable impact in raising standards of student progress in Food and nutrition, as well as enhancing the teaching practices of others. You will be able to demonstrate excellence in the leadership, management and development of an interesting and challenging curriculum, as we work to expand the opportunities on offer for all pupils at Coundon Court. The Design and Technology department is a dynamic, well-equipped and progressive department that was highlighted as an area of strength in Coundon Court’s recent ‘Good’ OFSTED inspection. The curriculum is sequenced and resourced to a high standard to support consistency of approach that is underpinned by a sound rationale and attracts healthy numbers at KS4. This is an opportunity to become part of a well-established, friendly and creative team who are well supported by the senior leadership team and benefit from three technicians to support the vast range of subject areas we cover including one dedicated food technician. We have two specialty food rooms soon to be three brand new kitchens and a dedicated computer suite to accompany these. As such, there will be opportunity to develop food and nutrition to KS5.

The faculty houses four workshops and two specialty food rooms and has recently benefited from a £200k refurbishment. It boasts three large, multifunctional workshops that accommodate full computer suites with CAD/CAM facilities in each including laser cutters, CNC routers and 3D Printers to enable students to work with a wide range of materials. There is also a dedicated and well-equipped materials preparation area enabling larger scale machining and production.
We work closely with the Design and Technology Association and offer numerous enrichment activities, teaming up with a variety of creative institutions to support students learning journeys. Coundon Court is a high performing, forward-looking and innovative Academy at the heart of its community. We are looking to expand our pool of examination invigilators and have opportunities for responsible and reliable people with excellent communication and organisational skills to join our team. You will be responsible for ensuring the examinations held at this centre are run in accordance to strict regulations.
Employment will be on a casual basis with the majority of work being offered in May and June each year. Full ongoing training will be given. Applicants should be flexible in workings hours and committed to supporting students at a stressful time.

Here at Coundon Court School, we strive to change young, vulnerable lives every day and as a Designated Safeguarding Lead and Looked After Child Link you’ll have the chance to help us. With your help, our professionals can support children and young people with special educational needs.
You will take lead responsibility for safeguarding and LAC within the school which means that on a daily basis you will be liaising with both Social care, parent’s carers and staff on matters of safety and safeguarding and will be a great source of support, advice and expertise in the team.
You will work as part of the school’s safeguarding team and report directly to the Principal for this crucial role.
