NEW! Please see the documents below which describe our personal development strategies and journey for our students.
At Coundon Court we want to students to strive to be the best they can be and we want them to have as many opportunities as possible to try new things and have the best chance for future success. With this in mind, we have launched the PiXL Edge programme across the school and many students are now busy choosing activities to complete.
The aim of this programme is to develop and accredit students with those personal attributes essential for employability and life. It will give students an ‘EDGE’ when it comes to competitive job applications and interviews as it will provide students with the opportunity to make themselves more attractive to further education and future employers.
The Edge gives students an opportunity to develop 5 key (LORIC) attributes:
Once complete students will receive a nationally recognised certificate and badge, additional prizes and rewards will be made throughout the year.
The award has three levels of challenge: Apprentice, Graduate and Masters, and students are required to complete a range of activities to achieve each level
It is designed so that students start on the Apprentice level in year 7 with most students completing this by the end of year 9. In years 9 and 10 students will then work towards the Graduate level. Some students will go even further and in years 11 to 13 complete the Masters level.
How do students complete challenges?
Each student has a unique login to the website and can access this both at home and school. The website contains hundreds of challenges that be searched by LORIC attribute, key word or subject. Progress on the scheme is managed by the students using the on-line application, www.theedge.pixl.org.uk - please ask your child to show you their EDGE Profile.
If your child would like to access the Edge at home they can click on the link https://theedge.pixl.org.uk/
There are numerous activities in which your child can be accredited for; from something as simple as helping to lead a warm up in PE lessons to organising a stall for the Christmas Fair. There are also many activities outside school which can be accredited.
For any further information, please speak to your child’s tutor or our Leading Edge Coordinators.
