Welcome to the Bridge
A message to parents from Ms Hunt, Head of the Bridge
Choosing a Secondary School for your child is one of the most difficult decisions you face as a parent or carer, you have already made a brilliant choice by selecting Coundon Court’s Bridge for your child. Coundon Court is the biggest Secondary School in Coventry but with the size of our Secondary School also comes an exceptional learning experience with a great set of outcomes, wraparound pastoral care and a wide range of experiences that nurture the whole child-academically, socially and emotionally, as well as an innovative and creative curriculum. It is our shared experiences and our sense of belonging that makes the Coundon Court Bridge unique.
Our Year 7 students have their very own small school that is the pinnacle of education: the Coundon Court Bridge. The Bridge has its own leadership team made up of highly experienced practitioners, including primary teachers who understand and support the specific needs of our children when they make their transition to The Bridge. Coundon Court’s Bridge comes with wraparound-pastoral care so every child is known and their individual talents and interests are recognized and understood. Every opportunity is taken in The Bridge to enable your child to thrive and be successful both socially and academically. Our Year 7 students will have the majority of their lessons in their Bridge building so the worry of being lost in a huge Secondary School is alleviated; they have their own dining room and playground too- a space just for their year group. If students need to access additional interventions, with possible outside agencies, these will happen in the Bridge too and be coordinated by our Primary team as our SEN links.
Our Bridge is a safe and happy learning environment full of aspiration and ambition.
In our Bridge, we do not apologise for asking our children to work hard. Hard work is the key to success and our Bridge is home to the hardest working students in Coventry who are ambitious for their own futures. With the right balance of challenge and support across the curriculum, every child gets the support they need to excel- whether that is through targeted support or our high attaining curriculum. In our Bridge, our students make the best start to their seven year journey here at Coundon Court: building their brighter future. We understand that success is a continuous journey of hard work and self-improvement. They are able to communicate effectively in a range of situations, they are avid readers and they are critical thinkers who can contribute positively to society. They are proud to be a part of the Coundon Court Bridge community and they demonstrate our core values of hard work, kindness and respect at all times.
Our Bridge doesn’t just focus on your child’s academic achievements but their personal and enrichment achievements too. The whole child is the whole point here at Coundon Court which means that the experiences that our students encounter are a huge part of their time with us, especially in The Bridge. Whatever your interest, The Bridge wider experiences’ programme has something for you to get involved in or something new for you to try- from Michelin Stars of the Future to the Debate society and every sports’ team imaginable, there’s a great programme waiting for your child. As well as a jam-packed enrichment offer, The Bridge provides a tailored programme that explores highly-competitive ambitious destinations to help your child realise their full potential. We want our Bridge students to lead with our values of hard work, kindness and respect; we want them to make the most of every opportunity available to them so they can use The Bridge as a platform for their success at Coundon Court.
Coundon Court’s Bridge is the community that our Bridge students will not forget.
